Why is email such a major security risk for our school?

Email is the primary pathway cybercriminals use to target schools because it relies on human trust rather than technical vulnerabilities. Phishing emails are designed to look like routine communications—such as messages from vendors, administrators, or software providers—to trick us into sharing passwords or clicking malicious links. Strengthening our email security habits is the single most effective way to protect sensitive student records, district files, and our personal information. This is a requirement for our cyber secuirty insurance and is a priority from the Board down.

Do I have to complete every training session?

Yes, but we have made it much easier and less intrusive than before. Instead of sitting through lengthy annual courses, you will receive short, three minute lessons sent directly to your inbox every few weeks. They require no login and can be completed in just a few clicks right from your desk or phone, making it simple to stay up-to-date without interrupting your workday.

Are there incentives for staying on top of my training?

Absolutely! To celebrate our security champions, we are launching a recognition program with periodic awards and prizes for employees who complete their lessons promptly and consistently catch simulated phishing emails. You can track your points and progress directly on your personal dashboard to see where you stand.
