Canvas has an option that allows students to see the grade distribution for any graded assessment. This is turned on by default and can only be disabled by the course teacher. Among other issues, this is a problem if you have a small class and students can see the distribution of grades and guess who might be on the low end. Turning it off is simple:
- When on a course page, scroll down in the left navigation to Settings and click on it.
- Scroll to the bottom of that page and choose More Settings
- Locate the checkbox for Hide grade distribution graphs from students. Select that box and click Update Course Settings.
- Be sure not to check the box above it.
- This has to be done for each course.
