Sorting anything seems to be a big challenge for Canvas. As you create assignments and add rubrics to them, Canvas does not sort your courses by name or terms. This might not seem significant now unless you teach primarily single term courses. However, once rubrics are created, they stay in your account perpetually and over time, you will have an unruly list to choose from. The solution to this is an extension to your browser that will not only sort your rubrics by course, but it will put the course that you are in at the top of the list and display the term for each course. Unfortunately, you have to add this extension yourself to any browser that you use. Fortunately, it is a simple procedure and only requires two mouse clicks. You will receive a daunting message that appears that you are installing something bad on your computer. I am trying to catch you in a phishing test. It is OK to install this.
Step 1: click on this link and then choose Add to Chrome. The screen will refresh and you will be on a page for Tampermonkey. This is OK.
Step 2: click on this link and then click on Install. It will not appear like anything happened, but the script is now installed.
To test it out, the next time you create an assignment << add a rubric << click Find Rubric - you should see the course that you are working in at the top of the list and you can also see the year and term:
