The Situation:
Ignoring the "update" message in the Chrome browser.
Why It Matters:
Vulnerabilities and exploits occur in Chrome, and the latest updates are designed to patch these security holes. Ignoring these updates keeps you and our organization exposed.
The Risks:
- Security Breaches: Outdated browsers are prime targets for cyber-attacks.
- Performance Issues: An updated browser runs smoother and faster.
- Compatibility Problems: New web technologies are constantly being developed. Keeping your browser updated ensures you can access all the latest and greatest features without a hitch.
The Solution:
Updating your Chrome browser is as easy! Here’s how you can do it:
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner of your browser.
- Hover over "Help" and then click on "About Google Chrome."
- Watch as Chrome checks for updates and installs them automatically.
- Restart your browser to complete the update.
- Worried about all those open tabs? They will all automatically reopen after Chrome has restarted. Don't trust that statement? Follow these steps to always have Chrome tabs reopen after a restart: Open the Chrome menu, click Settings, scroll to the "On Startup" section, and then click to enable the setting "Continue where you left off"
Please do your part to keep our digital workspace secure and efficient. Updating your browser is a small step that makes a big difference. Plus, it’ll make that little update message in the top right corner finally stop nagging you.
